RAE GODIN AT GMAIL DOT COM

“Wood appears in multiple chairs — in Rae Godin’s hands, the material becomes less warm and more antagonistic: plywood sprouts spikes.”

Fight the Urge to Sit at Two Shows of Artful Chairs

“I work compulsively; spikes are the foremost compulsive, essential aspect to my work, and maybe even to me. The spikes are attempts to understand violence and intimacy. Spikes have symbolized this in underground subcultures for decades. How close we are to letting people into our private worlds has an impact on who we become and the work we create. You can look but you can’t touch. Unless I tell you that you can. And if you do, you might be injured.”
